UP- a film by the creators of 'FINDING Nemo' and 'Monsters, Inc.'- is an animated film for young people and also for the older ones. It was produced in 2009, and you could watch the film in the cinemas as from 29/05/2009. The story is set place in a little village, which has grown in to a big town. The main characters are Carl Fredricksen, his wife Ellie and a little boy called Russell. Carl Fredricksen, an old and grumpy man, whose former job was to sell balloons, once had the dream of living with his wife Ellie Fredricksen and their own house directly next to paradise Falls. But they didn’t have enough money to make their dream come true, and one day Ellie died because she was so old and fell ill. Now Carl wants to live in his house for the rest of his life, but a manager, whose job is to build skyscrapers in this area, tells Carl to leave this place and spend the last years of his life in an old people's home. So Carl takes the decision to make his childhood dream come true and live with his house next to paradise Falls. He buys thousands of balloons and fixes them with a string to his house. Together with an eight-year-old 'wilderness explorer' called Russell who wants to provide Carl in order to get the last boy scout award, and his house with the balloons, Carl flies away and the adventure begins. Carl showed the people, that he is a grumpy and angry man but this is only a cover. He reacts like this because he can't cope with the death of Ellie. At first Carl hates Russell but then they become really good friends. Carl does almost everything only to make Russell happy and he helps him when he is in difficult situations. Russell is the exact opposite of Carl; he is a spontaneous, nerdy and naive boy, who dreams of adventures in the wilderness. One of the reasons why the movie became so famous is that many young children see parallels between this character and themselves. The other reason is that this is a fantastic story for everyone and because of the funny scenes the movie is also for the whole family. The plot is supported by the background music. The scenes fit really well with the music because when there are sad or a funny moments the music will make you feel this. The background music is a really important feature of the movie and the film will only be successful when the viewers feel close to the actors and the plot. In my opinion, all the people who work for and in this movie do a really good job. It is actually a fantastic movie for the whole family.
At first I must say you have done a good job. You characterize the two main characters Carl and Russell very good. And also your description of using the music is well done. But I would sum up the plot of the movie more exactly because you didn´t mention the bird Kevin, the talking dogs and the adventurer Charles Muntz, so nothing that happened after Carl and Russell flow away. So the reader doesn´t get the whole plot and he´ll miss a big part of the story in your summery. I agree with you that this is a very funny and fantastic movie for the whole family and so i give the movie 10 points.
The writings are really good, you can follow the hapening. And Elle you have added al things what where missing. The movie is a movie that i like, so it gets 10 points from me.
