The film “The boat that rocked” is set in in the year of 1966 on an infamous pirate radio ship in the North Sea . The main part of the film is about an 18 year old boy named Carl who arrives on board because his Mother sent him there in the hope that this trip would sort him out, which is a really big mistake . The principal acters are Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans and Nick Frost, who play the DJs, and Kenneth Branagh, who plays Carl’s godfather. When Carl arrives on the boat, his godfather Quentin shows him the ship and gets him to know the Crew, which consists of eight DJs for a pirate radio show and a lesbian, and they all welcome him friendly. They love to do their pirate radio show called “Radio Rock” which is listened to by 25million people every day. Every second Saturday every DJ is allowed to invite a woman and then they have parties with lots of alcohol and sex. It’s normal for them to have sex with the girls that come on the boat, but there are always some of the crew left without a woman. One day Carl’s mother comes on board and when she leaves again, Carl finds out that she had sex with some of the crew and one of them is his father. Carl is the youngest on the boat and the only one who is a virgin . He tries to get the girls to bed ,too, but there’s always a reason why it doesn’t work. One of his DJ friends, whose name is Simon, is more lucky and marries a woman on the boat after the boys were having a stag party for him on land. But his luck is not consistent because another DJ also has sex with Simon’s wife and so there is a conflict on the boat. Another problem is that the pirate radio is in danger of being declared because of the government’s acting against them. They always try to find a reason why they could make pirate radio illegal, and one day they pass the law through. Should that be the end of Radio Rock? The film has a great score when there is a storm. Also, the exciting film scenes are accomponied with sounds that fit. The costumes fit the people and the time, so every character has his own style and it’s easy to identify them. Another great aspect of the film is the music. For example when you can see the DJ while they are working, you can also hear the music they play on Radio Rock . It is great music in a mix of Pop and Rock & Roll , Most of the songs are “oldies” for us . In my opinion the film is very funny and especially qualified for teenagers because the main topics in the film are alcohol, music and sex , so it’s not a film for children. The quality of the film is good, particularly the sound . I liked the film and would tell others to watch it, too.

I agree with all what the two above me said. There is no point to add to the summary, it was very understandable and you get a small but good impression of the film!
In my opinion the director and also all of the actors did a very good job! Every actor has his own special character and so the story get's exciting and often very funny. Often there are also little surprises in the film where you don't know exactly how it will end, like when Simon suddenly get's married!
All in all it is a successfull film and I would recommend it to all teenagers above the age of 15!
